Graduation Card Female

James graduated this weekend. It was a lovely ceremony. And to be honest I lost it when he texted me just before the ceremony, " Mom, thank you for the last 17 years. You couldn't have been a better Mom and I know that you are the sole reason I made it this far!" He's an awesome kid and I am one proud Mom! How fortunate I am to have a kid that values his upbringing!!

We have had some pretty insightful conversations this weekend. James has done a ton of growing up. He is in an awkward situation because when he goes to college he will still be a minor in an adult word. (He skipped 4th grade, so he graduated early.) But he also recognizes that he was raised with values and has core values and a lot of kids leaving for college haven't been. We live in an affluent community. And when we moved here before the divorce we had a six figure income. With the divorce and my disability we had to learn how to count every penny. He told me he was "thankful" that we lost our income because he has learned how to appreciate everything he has. He has friends whose parents bought their kids $20,000 cars and the kids complain about what a piece of trash it is. And they go out and have several accidents and think nothing of it.  James on the other hand earned the $3,000 for his used Jeep. And he LOVES his Jeep and takes great pride in it. How many kids can appreciate that they have had to work for something and are not resentful???? I am indeed blessed.

We have a ton of graduations over the next couple of weeks. Here's a card I designed for the local high school girls done in their school colors:

Supplies:
Cardstock: DCWV Mini Scalloped Cardstock, Copic X-Press Blending Card
Card Base: DCWV Bright Solid Box of Cards

Copics: G28, E29, E 35, R22, Y11, Y35
Stamp: Whiff of Joy Graduation Willow
Dies: Spellbinders Long Rectangle, Spellbinders Long Scalloped Rectangle

Have a wonderful day filled with appreciation of the little things!

Male Birthday Card

A friend called and asked if I could make a birthday card for her 4 year old son to give his Dad that is going to be deployed soon. Her son's favorite ritual at bed time is  Dad's bear hugs. So I thought it would mean something special to his Dad to have a bear card from his son.

The stamp is Bruno Bear with present from Whiff of Joy's Party Collection.  I used Spellbinders Labels Large for the stamping area. Then I just layered with scraps and used my Kaisercraft Paper Trimmer to trim around it.

This is the first time I have tried to color animal fur with Copic Markers (E49, E35,E37) I also used Copic Lemon Glitter for the ribbon and tried touching it up with Yellow Stickles. I am not very happy with the results, but it was a learning experience. I am still learning how to shade, so I think that was part of the problem.

The "ribbon" is actually Eyelash yarn. The papers were just scraps I had.

So here is the finished result:

I am pleased to announce I will be participating in Operation's Write Home Bunny Hop on March 5th.
