Caseing Kelly Blog Hop

Welcome to the "Caseing Kelly Blog Hop." You should have arrived here from the awesomely talented Donna Idlet

I've  known Kelly for a couple of years now. We have both been on the a2z Scrapbooking Design Team since the beginning. It's been awesome watching her grow as an artist and I am in absolute awe of her work. I look forward to seeing her blog posts. Unfortunately, she has left to the team to take on other challenges.  We miss her dearly but I still look forward to checking out her creations.

I just loved the bright flowers on these cards that I cased from Kelly:)
Love the use of the black ink to outline the flowers:) Notice how Kelly blended the petals to go into the next flower?

Love how Kelly balanced the flowers in the corners.

I had planned to make a card, but my health got in the way. I apologize:(

Your next stop is the amazing Ellen Haxelmans

Operation Write Home Memorial Day Blog Hop - Any Hero Card

Welcome to Operation Write Home's Memorial Day Blog Hop! How exciting it is to see all of the red, white and blue handmade cards! Doesn't it just make you want to get your stuff out and start creating?

I personally would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the families and our Heroes   My father served in the Korean War. We had family at the Pentagon on 9-11. The owner of a2z Scrapbooking is a military kid. We understand the importance of your sacrifice. And we remember the lost.......

My card is based on OWH Sketch 217

See Supply list at the bottom of this post.

I made an Any Hero card for this hop. Our hero's unfortunately think we have forgotten them due to the war effort winding down. It's important for them to know we have not forgotten them.

I know it can be tough to figure out what to write in an Any Hero card so I thought I would share what I have written to help spring some ideas for you in writing any Hero cards...

Dear Hero,
Thank you for serving our country.Your sacrifice is remembered every day in our family. We had family at the Pentagon on 9-11, so we know how important your job is on a personal level.

The flowers are starting to bloom  here in Indiana after a very long winter & it is wonderful seeing green again.

We are going to the Farmer's Market this weekend. It will be nice to be out in the sunshine.

I have two boys. One is a senior at Purdue and the other just finished getting his welding certification. He started his first job making rebar for cement foundations. The son at Purdue plans to start his own business offering translation services to companies.

Please know you are thought of daily and are in our prayers.

With admiring respect,

Elizabeth, James, and Scott

Imagine if everyone on this hop wrote just 2 ANY HERO Cards what a difference it would make to our troops! a2z will be sponsoring an Any Heroes Card drive next month on the a2z blog.Be sure to stop by there on June 5th for more details! And we have a very special surprise guest designer coming on June 7th!

Be sure to leave a comment to be entered for $25 gift certificate to a2z Scrapbooking Supplies.

Have fun on the hop!

Mother's Day Card

Supplies:
Paper and Cardstock: Lawn Fawn Brightside'
Ribbon: Simon Says April 2012 Card Kit
Die: Spellbinders Classic Heart-I used packaging acetate for the heart
Bling: Hero Arts Gemstones
Tape: Queen & Co Purple Polka Dot Trendy Tape
Flower Punch: Punch Bunch
Mini Glue Dots to attach the flowers to the acetate

The card is based on a card by Kristina Werner in Simon Says April 2012 Card Kit. But I changed it up a bit by making an acetate heart to attach the flowers too. (I used mini Glue dots.) I also did have have enough ribbon to make a bow,so I tied a knot again. I also added Hero Arts Clear Gems to the centers of the flowers.

And the ribbon is straight, not sure why the photo shows it as slanted?????

I made this card for my Mom for Mother's Day, but it certainly could work for other occasions.

Have a wonderful day! It is just beautiful here:)

Purdue College Note Card

James still needs me! LOL He called yesterday because he interviewed a Purdue Engineering Professor that impressed him big time because he was so warm, caring and helpful. And let me tell you that Prof must be AWESOME because I rarely hear James excited about an instructor! LOL

And even more impressive is that my 17 year old wanted to write a handwritten thank you to this Professor but that a store card was not good enough in James eyes. He wanted something special and he wanted his Mom to make it! So apparently the child thinks I have some talent worth using! LOL To be fair he also asked me to make his graduation thank yous and announcements. But he has left for college and there are days I wonder if he remembers us. LOL

 Supplies:
Paper and Stickers: SportsSolution, Petaloo Glitter Sheets, Bazzill
Die: Spellbinders Labels 4

Tip: I brushed the back of the sticker with cornstarch to take away the stickiness. I then placed foam dots on the back to make the train (Boilermaker) pop out and given the impression it is headed our way.

Go Purdue! (Shhh! don't tell anyone a Michigan Wolverine said that, lol) Our house now supports Michigan, Purdue, Indiana University, and Ivy Tech. Talk about a house divided!

A Long Over Due Thank You

If you are looking for the Copic Marker Blog Candy Post click here.

I am ashamed to say my thank yous are long over due. Between being in the hospital, recuperating and a major camera issue, I have gotten behind. My cat knocked a glass of water over onto my camera. Thankfully I had bought a Black Tie Protection plan from Best Buy when I purchased it. But it took two weeks for them to decided to junk it. (I could have told them it wasn't worth repairing! LOL) But Best Buy issued a gift card for replacing it. O.K., so it should have been no problem, right? Wrong!!!!  I get online and spend a couple of hours analyzing the pros and cons of what is out there in my price bracket. I then make a purchase. I go to pick it up the next day only to find out that after taking the additional funds out of my Pay Pal account Best Buy lost the order. And the local general manager told me there was nothing he could do, I was just out the money!!!!

So I called the national customer service. It took 3 days but they finally determined that it was a "ghost order," meaning they lost it. They did get me the camera and gave me the new extended warranty for free as an apology. BUT it has been 3 weeks and my Pay Pal account still has not been adjusted!!!!! So if there is still no money there tomorrow I am going to file a dispute. UGH!

However, I love my new camera:) And here are the first of my thank yous. I will do another posting later this week with more.

My first one is from my wonderful friend Ioanna Maria who not only sent me a Get Well card with a wonderful box that prevented it from getting crushed but also sent candy from Greece! My boys and I were in heaven:)

I won a HUGE box of Blog Candy from Sandy O. at Paper Transformers. And I do mean huge! It was like Christmas had arrived.  Check it out:)

Boy do I have ideas a brewing for all of this wonderful stuff. What I love the most is that as a mother of boys it is not stuff I would normally by for myself. But now I have some girl stuff to play with without feeling guilty! LOL Thanks so much Sandy!

I won more Blog Candy but the weather is storming and the electricity is coming and going so I am going to post this for now. I will do another thank you later in the week:)

To all of the storm victims my prayers are with you and your families.

My project today is for a very special teacher. She has been an awesome teacher and does a great job teaching a friend's child that has Celiac Disease. Celiac is a disease that is caused by a gluten intolerance. Gluten is found in wheat, rye, and barley. It causes lots of digestive and neurological issues for him. He was originally diagnosed with Autism, but when dietary changes and gluten was removed from the classroom he has been very successful. The autism diagnosis has been removed.

My project is a thank you card for the teacher:
