Lasting Memories-Jokes on You

This week at Lasting Memories the theme is "Jokes on You!" Here's your chance to use a sense of humor when you are designing your pages!

When Percy was alive, James loved pretending to talk for Percy. Well one day Percy got the best of James and jumped in the car and refused to get out of the driver's seat. The message was plain and clear, " May I drive please?" LOL The second page is at the end f the trip when Percy came to visit us for the weekend. (And of course we went to the meat market to buy him a bone!)

I apologize for the photo issue-for some reason the ribbon looks crooked-but it's not in real life. I am thinking that maybe the Behcets is keeping me from holding the camera still enough?

Cardstock and Paper: Stash
Embellishments:  Jollies
Ribbon: Hobby Lobby

Looking forward to having a giggle with you this week!

Lasting Memories Challenge- The Shades of Green

Happy St. Paddy's Day tomorrow:)  In honor of the day Lasting Memories DT member Claire wants us to do a layout in shades of green.

I have to be honest this was a bit of challenge especially since I was trying to do it without buying any paper.  So do you think I pulled it off?

Journaling Note: I left the journaling label empty so that James could fill it in since I wasn't there.

The Sketch that inspired this layout was from Inspired to Scrap October 2013 Weekend Warrior's Class

Paper and Cardstock: Mulberry paper (This was a trend about 10 years ago. Maybe I can restart it, so that I can use my stash?) Stash and scraps

Label Die: Lifestyle Crafts-sorry I don't know the name, it was given to me out of the package)

Alphabet: American Craft Dear Lizzie Fantastic Foam stickers

Tape: American Craft Glitter Tape

Looking forward to seeing your green! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

You Fill My Days with Rainbows-Simon Says March 2014 Card Kit

To say I loved the Simon Says March Card Kit is an understatement. I loved the crayon rubber stamp. Lawn Fawn's Hello Sunshine 6x6 Paper Pad makes me drool! This is a great kit. And I have done several cards that will be featured in future posts.

There is a rainbow stencil in the kit. Despite using masking tape to hold it down, I found it still wanted to slip between the layers of the rainbow when I used a sponge dauber. I tried a Q-tip and it worked wonderful giving a kind of "edginess" to the layer of the rainbow. I then cut out the rainbow leaving a white edge to help separate from the background paper. I added some sequins from the kit and a Hero Arts Red Pearl Heart.

Inks: Hero Arts Red Royal,  Hero Arts Orange Soda, Hero Arts Lemon Yellow, Hero Arts Grass, Hero Arts Neon Blue
Love this kit!

Have a week filled with rainbows!

Lasting Memories: Early Spring: Use Flowers

Early Spring? Dare we hope? I am soooo tired of winter. Indianapolis has had more snow than Fairbanks, Alaska So in the hopes of bringing on Spring we want to see flowers this week at Lasting Memories. Flowers are not something I use often due to having boys, but then I thought, I bet Percy dreamed of flowers and green grass when he was taking naps:)

I used a blue metallic paper for the one of the bars and the matting, so it picked up the reflections when Scott took the pictures. It looks much better in person. Sorry:(

Flowers: Petaloo and Prima
Brads: American Crafts
Cardstock: Studio Calico
Dew Drops: Robin's Nest
Puppy Dreams Title: Silhouette File

Looking forward to seeing your flower layouts!

You Fill My Day With Color Card

I just love Simon Says March Card Kit! This by far has been my favorite. I love love love the crayon stamp!
My card today was inspired by a card made by Sarah Moerman.  I loved how she made a bundle of crayons using patterned paper. I added in a green crayon and used colored dew drops instead of sequins and instead of stamping "color" on the crayons I did it in blue below the crayons.

Cardstock and Paper: Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine, Lawn Fawn Polka Dot, Bazzill

Have a wonderful day!

Lasting Memories - 2nd Alpha Wars and Blog Hop winner

Time to use those alphabet stickers! It's time for our 2nd Alpha Wars at Lasting Memories. We want you to:use as many different alpha stickers (or die cuts) as possible (2+ alphas). This is a great way to use up some sets that have a lot of missing letters.

Our home is a Big Ten divided home. James attends Purdue. My undergrad was done at University of Michigan and my Masters at Indiana University. I have taught for Indiana University and Purdue. And Scott is an Indiana University fan.. (Largely because his brother goes to Purdue and he just loves to be antagonistic.)

So last summer when we went to Brown County for a few days we made a trip to Bloomington so that James could see the campus. While we couldn't go into the stadium, he did get to peek in.

Alphabet:3 different American Crafts Thicker sets.

Lasting Memories-Guilty Pleasures Food/Beverage

If you are looking for the a2z Scrapbooking Beat the Winter Blues Blog hop please go here.

Good morning! Thank you so much for joining us last week at Lasting Memories, and all this month! We're down to our last challenge of February. You have till Friday at 9 pm EST to get your entries in! We'll be contacting a GDT on Saturday afternoon to join us for the month of March and we'll be announcing the winner of our  a2z scrapbooking gift certificate as well! Get those entries in! Haven's last challenge for February is
"Food/Beverage .. Guilty Pleasures"
What does this mean? Here's what Haven has to say:
"You know we all have those guilty little pleasures. Our favorite comfort food. This time of year it Girl Scout tagalong cookies for me. So for this week we are asking you to share your guilty pleasures with us- food based only please"

We have a tradition in our house at Christmas time. James makes a gluten free gingerbread house with a friend's son.  And I LOVE LOVE LOVE gingerbread. So I knew those pictures would be perfect for this challenge.

I decided to also use Creative Scrappers Sketch 262. It had a free chevron silhouette file too! This sketch kind of took on a life of it's own. It definitely was the inspiration although I did make some big changes, which isn't like me. Then again the sketch wasn't really my style either, so I went on a creative binge. This was fun!
