Lasting Memories Challenge #73 Trash Your Layout

This week the challenge at Lasting Memories is to use trash on your layout! This can be  scraps or something you could recycle. .We can’t wait to see this weeks challenge from everyone to see how creative you get!

OK, so as Conservation Teacher of the Year 3 years in a row when I was teaching special education, you know this this challenge is right up my alley! I drive everyone crazy with my constant two cents on water conservation issues. And don't even get me started on homes and cottages that have septic systems that dump directly into a water source! I was so into water conservation when I was teaching my special needs students have even been published in a True Book on Water Pollution because of their conservation efforts on a local river!

So you know I have to use every last piece of scrapbook paper and ribbon and I can't throw anything away. However, I do go through my stuff once a month and donate stuff to my local elementary. The art teacher comes running when she sees me:)

And for those of you who are wondering how I save my scraps I have plastic 12x12 folders that I have labeled with the different colors and one for multiple colors. I keep anything that is larger than 3x3 and put everything but silvers into the  donation box.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Products: I kept this layout simple to support Reduce and since I am the Queen of embellishments this was major. For the reuse portion I used the red button  from one of Scott's old outfits AND the title Grandpa and Me is from Christmas Wrapping Paper sprayed with archival mist.
Recycle is also the Christmas Wrapping Paper because I buy recycled gift wrap.

The picture is of my dad and Scott. Scott is the first boy in 5 generations on my mother's side. And he has been the typical on the go, noisy, always talking boy. My dad has been thrilled-but it has been an eye opening experience for the rest of the family. He is almost 21 now and he still talks or makes boy noises non stop. And the energy level is still up there largely due to his having Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity. And yes he is wearing a Wolverine Bib. Go Michigan!!! I am an '83 alumnus, and proud of that Maize and Blue!

Supplies:
Archival Mist, old button, Christmas gift paper, Glue Dots

The prize this week is being sponsored by a2z Scrapbooking. In the spirit of recycling it is a fabulous Tim Holtz packaged the king of vintage!
