Snowflake Card

Sometimes I just have to laugh at myself. I start out trying to learn a new technique, utterly fail at it and then discover something else to try. One of the reasons why I love Holiday Card Boot Camp so much is that it gives me a chance to try something new and who knows where it will lead me?

So I was trying to learn how to do faux letterpress with Versamark. For the life of me I could not get the VersaMark to lay on the card evenly. I am still clueless as to what I was doing wrong. BUT I really loved the effect of embossing on printed paper.  And I had these Summer Shimmers that were a sample in  magazine this summer. So I thought what would happen if I painted the raised embossing with these shimmers.? And I had never used shimmers before so here was a chance to try something new and salvage the project!

Now here's the catch. Because I was experimenting I used scraps for everything. So I can't give you a supply list. BUT I can take you through the steps.

1. Choose a patterned paper and emboss with the Sizzix Tim Holtz Snowflakes embossing folder.
2. Use a paintbrush and paint over the raised images with Shimmers. Let dry.
3. Round the edges of the paper.
4. Attach ribbon/bow.
4. Place on a card covered with silver paper.

And thank you so much for the well wishes. I am feeling much better as far as the chemo reaction. I have to go back on the Monday after Thanksgiving and I am dreading it. However  my doctor assures me that there are things they can do to try and avoid another major reaction.

It is beautiful outside today, wishing all of you the same!
