"Comfort Zone," somewhere I love to stay comfortably in. But not this week. Our challenge at Lasting Memories this week is to try something new. Take a risk! And boy did I. First I used googly letters, which are very annoying when you try to take pictures, because they never line back up after being glued down. Second, I made my own chevrons-something I have never done without a template or die. Third the style of this layout is modernistic in my opinion-not my style. And lastly I re-purposed Halloween paper (The black dotted one) for a general every day layout. So how is that for try something new?
Supplies:
Paper and Cardstock: K & Company. Bazzil Banana and Smooth White
Google Letters:Hobby Lobby
Challenges:
Craft-Room Challenge; Something New (googly letters, making my own chevrons, using Halloween paper for everyday, modernistic approach)
Looking forward to seeing what your try new!

Sorry boys-Saturday is all about Me and Paper Trey Inks' Stamp-A-Faire
I am so excited, tomorrow I am going to learn all kinds of new tricks with Papertrey Ink's Stamp-a-faire. The theme is whipping up recipes for paper and ink.
This is my first time participating:) I even asked James to come home from Purdue so he could be taxi brother for Scott, so I could stay in the craft room all day. The only thing that is standing in my way is that apparently I have two kidney superbugs that are not responding to oral antibiotics. I am waiting to get into an infectious disease doctor to start IV antibiotics. It has been three days and he has yet to set up an appointment. And because I am on auto-immune suppressants I am at risk big time of going septic. So I am praying my body hangs in there. I so desperately want to participant. I have been looking forward to this since June. I can't get away and go to Crops because of Scott needing a caregiver, so please keep me in your prayers.
So tonight was meet and greet, and getting stuff ready. Here's a couple of pictures of soaking my muslin in tea and playing with the clay.
This event is free and open to everyone. And there are prizes!!!! You can join in on the fun at Capture the Moment. Stay tuned Saturday to see my progress in learning some new techniques. You should just see my box of tools! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Baby Girl Layout
I am currently enrolled in Big Picture's Stash Buster's. I absolutely LOVE this class. The emphasis has been on using up our stash. And I need to. And the class lessons are short and to the point. And I have been keeping up for the most part. This week has been an emphasis on using up our buttons. And boy do I need this one. I bought buttons from an estate sale. I may never have to buy buttons again!
My Lasting Memories DT sisters and I have made a commitment to each other to freeze our spending until we have 50 layouts done. Each of us have made a commitment in a specific area of supplies. I myself have committed to no more paper until I have 50 layouts done. And if you look at the title of my blog-you know what a challenge this is for me. However, I do have a couple of kit subscription obligations, so those are the only new paper sources I am allowed. But to make up for it, Claire and I started this a month ago. I had 20 layouts done. The rest of the team decided to join in the challenge this week. So I am starting over. (I do have to admit though completing 3Studio Calico kits and throwing out the empty boxes was fun!!!!! Looking forward to throwing out more empty boxes!
So here is my first layout for my 50 Layout challenge:
I broke out my hoarded Girl Paperie diecuts and my button supply for this one. There are no photos because it is for the Grandmother's album I am making for a friend.
Supplies:
Cardstock: Girl's Paperie
Die Cuts: Girl's Paperie
Buttons: Stash
Leaf Ribbon: May Arts
Challenges:
Through the Craft Room Door Anything Goes
Twisted Tuesday Challenge: Use Pink and Outdoor things. I used birds and flowers
Craft Your Passion: Summer Flowers
Have a lovely week!

Lasting Memories Look How I Have Grown! Challenge
Did you have fun on blog hop last week? I so loved seeing everyone's creative ideas!
The winner of the Hero Arts Butterfly Die is Carmen Mitchell. Carmen would you please contact me through my contact button? You have one week to do so. If I don't hear from Carmen, I will pick another winner next week.
One of my first Layouts:
OK time for true confessions: When I started scrapbooking there were few supplies. A Circle punch was a scraper's best friend. And stickers were the answer to everything!, LOL. I rarely use them now. And horrors of horrors I used Rubber Cement before there was acid free rubber cement. Oh the messes I have been cleaning up!
And a little info on the photos. That's Scott at 6 months wearing newborn clothes! That Michigan bib was almost bigger than him! His small stature was due to his birth mother drinking. It took until his adult years to catch up in size. He is now 5' 4". Scott's Fetal Alcohol Syndrome presents daily challenges for him even in his adult years. Please if you are pregnant, don't drink. Your baby will pay the price of your drinking for it's entire life.
And here is the latest layout-just a little different....what do you think?
Supplies:
Paper and Cardstock: Doodlebug, Bazzil
Ribbon: The Robert Stanley Collection
Washi Tape: Stash-I need to find a way to mark this stuff
Decorative Tape: stash
Flowers: Petaloo
Ink: Colorbox Navy Limited Edition
Dies: Avery Elle Chevron Bits
Pearls: Kaisercraft
Button Stars: Doodlebug
Red Brooch in Flower: Stash-I picked it up at a garage sale
Alphabet: American Crafts Marine Foil
Stamp: Studio Calico Scrapbook Kit
Chipboard: Stash
Challenges:
Crafts 4 Eternity: Summer Fun
Inspire Me Fridays Anything Goes
Jo's Scrap Shack Anything Goes
Heck of a Challenge Summer Holidays
Just for Fun: Anything Goes
Frosted Designs: Chipboard (arrow and title)
Looking forward to seeing how YOU have grown!

Digitally Sweet Challenges-Layers
It's all about layers this week at Digitally Sweet Challenges and we are sponsored by Cedar Chest Designs.
A couple of weeks ago my life took an abrupt turn. My wallet and camera were stolen. So I've been dealing with identity theft issues, but more sadly my camera and the digital card with my pictures were gone. While the lost of my checkbook, credit and debit cards were a pain, the pictures are not replaceable. So please learn from my experience and back up your digital pictures at least once a month.
As a result, my participation as a DT member is kind of limited at the moment depending on the theme. I do have my son's camera, so hopefully I will have some more pictures soon. And this week's layout is actually a gift for a friend's son who went to space camp.
Tip: I put the rocket ship on a wobbler-so it looks like the rocket ship is really moving:)

Lasting Memories Challenge Stars and Stripes
Well you would have thought that this weeks challenge at Lasting Memories would have been easy for me. I mean star and stripes, how difficult can that be? BUT I took Studio Calico's Inked Class. And as a result I decided to use gesso, with a striped stamp and paint from water color paper. (No that is not a typo there really is watercolor paper paints.) Well it is was a freaking disaster. When the red paint dried it looked like brown paint. So then I thought why not cover the red with Tim Holtz Distressed Red Barn Paint daubers? It turned into a frigging mess. The DT deadline was fast approaching so I decided to pull out the tried and true Doodlebug paper. And I will try the gesso at a later date when I have time to practice!
So here is attempt Two:
Journal: Charlie's Angels was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. In particular I loved Kate Jackson. The show returned as a movie during the boy's teens years. I didn't see it but the boys did. The car is from the movie version and can be seen at the Stars" Cars Museum in Gatlinburg TN.
