Lasting Memories Challenge Stars and Stripes
Well you would have thought that this weeks challenge at Lasting Memories would have been easy for me. I mean star and stripes, how difficult can that be? BUT I took Studio Calico's Inked Class. And as a result I decided to use gesso, with a striped stamp and paint from water color paper. (No that is not a typo there really is watercolor paper paints.) Well it is was a freaking disaster. When the red paint dried it looked like brown paint. So then I thought why not cover the red with Tim Holtz Distressed Red Barn Paint daubers? It turned into a frigging mess. The DT deadline was fast approaching so I decided to pull out the tried and true Doodlebug paper. And I will try the gesso at a later date when I have time to practice!
So here is attempt Two:
Journal: Charlie's Angels was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. In particular I loved Kate Jackson. The show returned as a movie during the boy's teens years. I didn't see it but the boys did. The car is from the movie version and can be seen at the Stars" Cars Museum in Gatlinburg TN.

This month at I Feel the Love Project we are sending love to a very special nine year little girl who lost her mother to cancer last year at the age of 8. Olivia in response to losing her mother to cancer has started Kids Involved in Cancer Research. Social Butterfly-Masculine Layout
One of the characteristics of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a trusting nature and being a social butterfly. So true with Scott. His brother mentioned the other day that it blew him away how we could go no where without Scott running into someone he knows. And he is very popular, I have to use Smart Limits with AT&T to control his phone calling while at work or College because he is unable to make anyone wait if they call. He would never have survived growing up in the 60's and 70's! And remember Party Line Days? Oh my he would have driven everyone crazy, LOL!
So I decided to take a vacation picture for Ripley's Believe It or Not (Branson, MO) and use it to showcase one of Scott's personality traits. To be honest this LO take a few days because it is very tricky to do a layout with butterflies and still have it look masculine. But Scott is happy with it now after SEVERAL opinions about the use of glitter ribbon! He won:)
Journaling: (around picture) Ever since you were able to talk you have been a social butterfly. You are comfortable in any situation and put people at ease.
Supplies:
Cardstock and Paper: Lawn Fawn Brightside
Twinkling H20's: teal zircon, Mediterranean, meridian
Punches: Ek Success 1.5" square, 1.25" square
Ink: Hero Arts Cerulean Chalk Ink
Ribbon: Michael's
Stamp and Dies: MFT Inspired be Butterflies
Embossing Powder: Ranger Distress Ink Black Soot
Embossing Ink: Versamark
Challenges
Die Cuttin Divas-Anything Goes I used MFT's Inspired by Butterflies Die
The Paper Players Lesley's Theme Challenge: I used Favorite color: teal, Masculine (Scott's page) Punches
Shopping Our Stash What Was I Thinking? I brought Twinkling H2O's and they have sat there for over a year because I was clueless on how to use them on a scrapbook page. They were perfect for making butterfly embellishments.
Have a wonderful day enjoying the Social butterflies in your life!

And my card today is bittersweet. It is modeled after the last card on Lily Pad. I will miss it dearly and the antics of Fredric the Frog. And this is the first time I had almost all of the supplies to make the card. I just made a couple of minor changes.
