Nontraditional Easter Card

Good morning! How are you today?

I am taking the online class Pattern Play. It's not to late to sign up, you can take the class anytime and have lifetime access. I have taken all of the Online Card Classes and they have all been jam packed with some awesome ideas and techniques. I am ALWAYS learning something new. By far of all the online card classes I have taken this series is by far the most professional and jammed with the most information.

So here is a card that was inspired from the fist day in class. I wanted a card I could use for the boys that was not girly.

I know not my typical style, LOL!

The purple is hard to see in the card but it is in the middle.

HE HAS RISEN! And how thankful I am to be a follower of Christ! He has been a wonderful savior and been there even during my hardest times. It's been a really tough week. The Behcets has caused lots of neurological issues the last couple of days. The pain in my brain has been unbearable and has caused more vision problems. But for once it happened on the way to my neurologist. (It usually takes 6 months to get into him when something goes wrong.) So for that I am thankful. However the insurance company continues to refuse me the medication/chemo I need because while it is approved for rheumatoid arthritis, it is not approved for Behcets.(There are no approved drugs for Behcets.) So I continue to get worse while watching others do well on the drug that I am not allowed to have because I am on the wrong medicare supplemental plan in the wrong state. I am THRILLED for those who have insurance plans that allow the treatment. But it is frustrating to know there is something out there, but I am not allowed to have. For my insurance company believes they know more than my doctors at the National Institute of Health. (NIH)

So today was a challenge to participate in the Easter festivities. Thankfully the boys were wonderful. James fixed a wonderful dinner. The brain pain was so bad though it was hard to swallow even a few bites. And the vision is very tunneled right now, so please accept my apologies if there are errors in this blog.

However after asking God for some encouragement I stumbled on the most amazing little 8 year old. And she helped me get back on track.  Her mother died of ovarian cancer in 2008. Interestingly on my journey of diagnosis for the Behcets I started bleeding internally. We could not find the cause. Test after test came up negative but my urine was bright red. As a last resort a hysterectomy was done. According to the doctors my female organs were onion skin with Swiss cheese holes. And the biopsy came back as pre-ovarian cancer. It was caught in time.

Rhema believes she was given her mother's voice. She certainly was given a gift from God. Her song " A Note to God, " got me back on track today. And to all of the service people who are separated from their families or have lost a loved one this Easter, thank you for your gift to our nation. May the peace of our risen Savior be with you.

I had a ton of fun designing this card using Peachy Keen's Painting Easter Bunny Stamp. I am a huge fan of Peachy Keen and the customer service is just awesome!

I colored the bunny using copic markers RV23, BV23, E35, BV20, YG06,Y06, V91.

Supplies used: Doodblebug Baby Girl Striped Paper, Scrap of Lilac paper, Copic Cardstock, Hero Arts Grass Folded Card, Kaisercraft White Pearls and Yellow Pearls, Hooby Lobby Pink Ric Rack, Cuttlebug Swirls Embossing Folder

I so badly wanted to use glitter and glitz the card up. However, in making cards for the military it is a safety issue for them. It is very important to NEVER use glitter on a card for Operation Write Home. But if you are making this card for someone else, I think this card would be darling with a glittered egg:)
