Yeah! My first
Lasting Memories Challenge!!! We are kicking off the new year with the theme of "Getting to Know You." Please join us and help us get to know you! Submissions are due Jan.14 at 9 pm EST.
One of my goals this year is to make a scrapbook telling my story. I want something for the boys to have in case something happens to me. And I want to share their heritage with them, because I know my ex won't if something happens to me. So this is going to be the first page of that book. And this is also my introduction as a Lasting Memories Design Team member. (I am still pinching myself, because I can't believe it is true!)
Journaling:
Growing up I thought I had no artistic ability. Yes, I could do beautiful embroidery and needlework pictures and Christmas projects, but paper and markers resulted in nothing but stick figures. My school art projects were always “hidden” from sight by my teachers. So in my eyes art was not a possibility for me. Even when I was teaching I bought bulletin board displays, because there was no way I could design my own.
I could write though. I could use paper to tell my story in words and I won many awards due to my writing skills.
Then 2 months after September 11, 2001 I had a heart attack. I became disabled due to Behcet’s. I could no longer do embroidery because I could not feel the needle due to arthritis from the Behcet’s. I was told there is no cure for Behcet’s.
I wanted my children to know my story so I began scrapbooking. Now paper and embellishments tell my story through art. So while there are days the Behcet’s steals my language skills, I can still tell my family stories through pictures, paper and embellishments because I am a SCRAPBOOKER!
