Blog Candy Winner and My News

Sorry I didn't get to this sooner. My doctors have been using a low grade form of Chemo (Remicaid) to try and kill off my immune system to get the Behcet's under control. It is basically a trial and error experimental treatment. And it has been fought with problems. The latest is that on Tuesday while driving my shoulders suddenly froze in position and made it impossible for me to use my arms and hands. Within an hour my hips froze and an hour later my knees.  Extremely painful. When we got home my shoulders were bright red and warm. Long story short is that I am in terrible pain and can not lift my hands above my waist. The keyboard is sitting on my lap. They think the Remicaid dose was not high enough and it was too far between infusions. So I have another infusion on Monday but in the meantime life is painful. Holding  a pair of scissors is excruciating.

So I haven't been able to do a whole on the computer. But here is the winner of  last week's hop:)
True Random Number GeneratorMin:1 Max 88  Result 7 and the winner is Rhonda Emery who said "Cute Layout" Congratulations! Rhonda would you please contact me at scrapbookingmom123@comcast.net with address and I will get this right out?

And my exciting news:) My Trash Your Layout  "Grandpa and Me" won top 3 at Shopping Our Stash!

I made Top 3 at SOS - badge

I am indeed honored! I love this challenge because the emphasis is use what you have. And believe me I need to.

Tomorrow Digital Darla and Lasting Memories are co-sponsoring a Hop on Digital Scrapbooking. Be sure to stop by! This is new for me, but is one of my goals for this year, so I am excited. And I will be giving away some Copics, which are perfect for digital scrapbooking:)

Have a wonderful day!

I made top 3 at Cricut 360!

I am very excited and humbled to announce my Hoot Layout made the top 3 at Cricut 360. This was my first time entering one of their challenges-my poor cricut has been gathering dust waiting for my new scrapbook room. It is so wonderful being able to get to my stuff! A very special thank you to Cricut 360 for the honor:)

To those of you on the East Coast, you are in my prayers. Please be careful. Ironic that Irene means peace isn't it?

Present? Christmas Layout

Lasting Memories"Squeal"  I am soooo excited!!! I won my first Challenge! I made the top 3 at Lasting Memories Challenge! My Farming Friends Layout won! I am so honored! There were many awesome layouts! Also if you are interested in being a DT they are taking applications:)

As a gymnast Scott has always been able to curl up into the smallest places. He has always loved sleeping in tight places. As a child the standard joke was to check the closets when we couldn't find him. More than likely he took a nap inside one of them. So it came as no surprise when my sister gave him a duffel bag that he decided to curl up in it. He even zipped himself inside. The picture is from when he decided to "pop out" and scare us!

Today I decided to challenge myself to use up some of my scraps. And the first scrap I grabbed was Christmas paper. This layout is made entirely of paper scraps so I am unable to identify the paper sources.

I also challenged myself to try a new technique. I have never misted before or used wood flourishes. I misted the Kaisercraft Wood Flourishes with October Afternoon Red Wagon Mist from the 5 and Dime Collection. I then embossed with Clear Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel. But I purposely stopped heating it before it was completely melted because I wanted to give it a frosted look since this was a Christmas layout. Unfortunately you can not see the crystals in the pictures. Sorry:(

I used Spellbinders Petite Circle Large Dies for the journal tag. I then used Hero Arts Red and Green Gems and alternated them. The Alphabet Stickers were from my stash, but I think they are from Stickapotamus.

Creative Scrappers #169
Lasting Memories Challenge #51: Try try something new and go a little out of your comfort zone. The Embossed Wood Flourish that I embossed but did not completely melt the crystals is my new technique. I have never used wood flourishes or misted before.

Scrapbook & Cards Today is looking for projects that are using old patterned paper. My paper is so old I don't remember where it came from! Even my alphabet stickers are old! LOL

Have a wonderful day filled with memories that make you smile!

The Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award

If you are looking for Young Craters Unite Blog Hop please click here or scroll down.

A very special blogging friend, Cara at Miscellaneous Me  has award me the Irresistibly Sweet Award.
Thank you:) Cara is a young teacher I have become friends with through blogging. Having to leave teaching due to Bechets has been a major loss for me. I have so enjoyed reading Cara's teaching adventures and all about her craft projects in her blog. Her teaching style is so similar to mine. She even has the kids singing songs while they transition from one activity to the next. I did that with my kids, but since she is a music teacher I am guessing her kids do not have to listen to a tone deaf teacher. LOL What can I say, my inability to sing motivated them to get the transition skill right the first time, so they would not have to listen to me sing it again! LOL

The rules for the award are the following:
1) Send a thank you to the person who nominated you and include their link.
2) To accept this award, tell 7 random facts about yourself.
3) Pass the award on to at least 8 other awesome blog buddies.

So here are my 7 random facts:

1. My first full time teaching job was in a community where I had "cow" duty literally. Our playground was next to a cow pasture and occasionally they would get loose. Need I saw more??? LOL

2. I used to amaze my students because I can read upside down and backwards!

3. As a child and teenager I used to do beautiful embroidery, needlepoint and  crewel work. Now I can't because of neuropathy and arthritis in my hands from the Behcets I can't feel the needle. Thankfully I still have some of my pieces:)

4. I dreaded taking art class while in school because I couldn't draw a stick figure let alone anything artistic. My teachers told me I was beyond hope and I would never have artistic talent.

5. I am happiest when I am in my craft room creating.

6. I LOVE the water. My dream is to one day have a cabin on a lake:)

7. I worked at Cedar Point Amusement Park while in college. I once rode the Gemini Roller Coaster for 3 hours straight while it was being tested for safety. Even in my sleep I thought I was still on the ride. I swear my bed was going up and down! LOL

And now to award to 8 other people:

1. Linda  Inspiration is Everywhere

2. Sandy Paper Transformer

3. Esther For the Joy of Creating

4. Ioanna Maria Pieces of Me

5. Maria Creativity is Therapy

6. Lillian It Came From My Mothers Meatloaf

7. Eric Load of Scrap

Just a reminder I have Copic Marker Blog Candy up for grabs. You can get one entry for being a follower and another for leaving a comment. I will be choosing a winner on July 5th.

Have a wonderful day filled with scrappy moments!
