Lasting Memories 200th Challenge Blog Hop

Hello and thanks for stopping by! We're hopping with celebration and excitement this week :) Yep, we're having a blog hop in celebration of our 200th post Lasting Memories! Our challenge? BUTTONS! We are looking for buttons, buttons everywhere on those layouts this week! Along the way, you'll see that some of us are offering a little candy on our blogs but you have to visit us to see who! We've also gotten a little creative with our buttons so we hope you'll be inspired! You should have arrived here from Michele's blog and if this is your first stop, please be sure to hop back to Lasting Memories to start the hop so you don't miss a thing! 

Each of us has a letter for you to collect that will spell out a scrapbook themed word, so don't forget to jot down my letter which you'll see below. Now time to reveal my complete layout! There's no photo because it is a gift. The pink/purple is a shiny metallic paper so it didn't photograph well. The "adorable" is done in crystals which didn't photograph well either. I'm sorry:(  This is MUCH prettier in person.

Tip for making the heart: I freehand drew the heart frame out of heavy pink cardstock.  I then glued the edge of the lace on the back of the heart, so that the lace would be exposed behind the buttons. I randomly glued buttons, brads, and sequins around the frame filling in all of the exposed areas. I used various sizes of glues dots from mini to pop dots depending on the size of the embellishment.

Lasting Memories Challenge: Mirror Image

Scott loves to take his picture in the mirror. It's a standing joke around here. So this week needless to say I had mirror pictures for Lasting Memories Mirror Image Challenge. You can use an actual mirror image or the opposite sides of your page could be mirror images, or perhaps use one photo and change the colors, the possibilities are endless..

Check out who is in front of Scott in the mirror. It's our cat Dustbunny, also known as Princess Dustbunny by her humans who serve her!

 I decided to pay with the fairy tale quote, "Mirrror, Mirror on the Wall....."

Lasting Memories Challenge All About Me

 It's "All About Me" this week at Lasting Memories.We want to see a layout that tells us something about you! This was a fitting theme this week because I have been working on a childhood memories album over at Bog Picture Classes Big Idea Festival.

So I chose to tell about some of my childhood Christmas memories on this layout. I grew up in Bay City, Michigan the home of Nat Doan. Nat was known around the world as THE Santa Claus trainer. He taught thousands on how to be Santa. And he happened to be close friends of my grandma on my mother's side and his boys were close friends of my Dad's brothers.They even served in Vietnam together!

Every year Santa and his wife would come to our home for a visit to find out what we wanted for Christmas. And his conversations were filled with tidbits about family members. So there was no doubt in the world that the REAL Santa came to visit because he would also know very detailed information about our childhood comings and goings! LOL

No Supply list this time because I am keeping to the team challenge of not buying anything until I have done 50 layouts. So this layout is all about using my stash. (And we won't talk about how old the paper is or how long ago I made the santa face. The pictures are from the 60's.

Journal: Every year Santa would come to our home in Early December. He always brought candy canesand a small gift. I usually received a book such as Little Women, Trixie Belden or Nancy Drew. As we got older we were able to predict which night Santa was coming because Grandma O would show up all dressed up & we didn't have to change our clothes when we got home from school.

Baby Girl Layout

I am currently enrolled in Big Picture's Stash Buster's. I absolutely LOVE this class. The emphasis has been on using up our stash. And I need to. And the class lessons are short and to the point. And I have been keeping up for the most part. This week has been an emphasis on using up our buttons. And boy do I need this one. I bought buttons from an estate sale. I may never have to buy buttons again!

My Lasting Memories DT sisters and I have made a commitment to each other to freeze our spending until we have 50 layouts done. Each of us have made a commitment in a specific area of supplies. I myself have committed to no more paper until I have 50 layouts done. And if you look at the title of my blog-you know what a challenge this is for me. However, I do have a couple of kit subscription obligations, so those are the only new paper sources I am allowed. But to make up for it, Claire and I started this a month ago. I had 20 layouts done. The rest of the team decided to join in the challenge this week. So I am starting over. (I do have to admit though completing 3Studio Calico kits and throwing out the empty boxes was fun!!!!! Looking forward to throwing out more empty boxes!

So here is my first layout for my 50 Layout challenge:

I broke out my hoarded Girl Paperie diecuts  and my button supply for this one. There are no photos because it is for the Grandmother's album I am making for a friend.

Lasting Memories Scavenger Hunt Birthday Hop

Hi everyone!! It is PARTY time at Lasting Memories today! We're celebrating Karen's special day with a "Scavenger Hunt Birthday Hop"! It's her 40th birthday tomorrow and what better way to celebrate than to have a hop in blogland! Before we get started, you better get yourself a pen and paper because you're going to need it! One of my favorite songs is "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle. And as I was designing this page as a gift for a friend the song seemed so appropriate and kept running through my head. What a lovely song! And so perfect for this week's challenge at Lasting Memories Things with Wings.

My layout has no photos because it is a gift for a new grandma.

Sorry this appears tilted, it's not. But the Behcets is causing problems with my eyesight making it difficult to take pictures. It's a beautiful layout, but the photo does not do it justice.

Lasting Memories-Old Fashioned Photos

I have a confession to make. My kids think I am "old fashioned". And they love the 70's, which were my teen years. They think the 70's were "old school." Excuse me, but that was just yesterday! LOL

So when the challenge at Lasting Memories this week called for old fashioned pictures I figured a picture from when I was in first grade (1967) was fair game.

Lasting Memories Challenge #115-Stamp Those Layouts

Missed me?? I was lost in Technology World, trying to convince Comcast that to wait more than a week for service was unreasonable. (The joys of being in an area that only has one service provider. No competition means poor customer service.) But the tech person shared a secret I am going to share with you. Apparently the router and modem will sometimes get out of sync causing a disruption in service-and why they could not have told me this over the phone is beyond me. So the trick is to turn off both the router and modem. Wait 30 secs and turn on the modem, let the lights come back on. (The wireless will not come on at this point.) Then plug the router in. Within a  minute or so your Internet should come back. So I am back!!!

This week the challenge at Lasting Memories is to Stamp on your layout. I had planned to do this elaborate stamped layout, but life got in the way. But I just got Kristen Werner's new On Edge Stamp Set and Small Folder Banners Die Set and I was aching to trying them out. So I used them to put the finishing touches on this layout.

The actual layout is not on a diagonal. Not sure what happened here. Sorry:(

Digitally Sweet Challenge 3-Use a Sketch

Hard to believe another a week has passed by. And I have "discovered" another digital software Craft Artist 2 Professional And honestly either I am getting the hang of digital scrapbooking or this software is easier to use. The kits are a little more "pricey" but the ease of use makes up for it.

This week the Digitally Sweet Challenge is a sketch designed by our own Ali:) Isn't it an awesome sketch?  I may have to borrow it sometime for a traditional scrapbook page too:)

So here is my layout using Craft Artist 2 Professional  and the Daisy Trails digi kits Good Times and Happy Birthday. I am still working on my friend's Christmas present. I promise I will soon be working on her grandson's pictures too:)

Just a friendly reminder Digitally Sweet is strictly a digital challenge. That means no traditional paper is involved. No digital hybrids are allowed and hybrids will be disqualified as far as Top 3 or for prizes.
