Lasting Memories- All About the Titles

The Challenge this week at Lasting Memories is all about the TITLE. We want to see what you have done to make your title stand out.

My page this week is about the boys' birthday dinner. My parents and sister had come from out of state to celebrate and I had planned to make baked chicken. HOWEVER, I made the mistake of buying organic chicken from the local Target. When I opened the package the smell was overwhelming because it had spoiled. And let's just say returning the chicken to Target was just as unappetizing. It took more than 45 minutes of arguments despite the fact the package was clearly marked as theirs and had a current date on it. I had bought it that day, but couldn't find the receipt. They did finally refund my money, but I will NEVER buy meat from there again, now that I know what a hassle it is to get a refund. (It couldn't be exchange because there was a problem with the refrigerator. And instead of thanking me for bringing to their attention before someone got sick, they treated me like I was trying to rip them off.)

So Grandpa came to the rescue and took us to dinner at Olive Garden.:)

Tip: I used Blue Velvet paper to make the celebrate. And I left one end of the title banner on trimmed to draw the eye to the title, while at the same time I used the blue velvet chevrons to bring focus to the title.

Supplies:
Cardstock and Paper: Hero Arts Grass Layering Paper, DCVW Graduation, Stash, Blue Velvet Paper
Ribbon: Hobby Lobby
Rhinestones; Hero Arts, Stash
Dies: Spellbinders Diamonds, Cheery Lynn Designs Celebrate, Avery Elle Chevron Bits

Looking forward to seeing your creative Titles!

Lasting Memories #213 Lists, Lists and More Lists

Welcome back! Sorry I have been MIA. My heart has had a ton of attitude and just walking across the street to get the mail require a 2 hour nap. I am on new medication so I am hoping things are going to take a turn for the better soon.

This week at Lasting Memories it' all about Lists. It doesn't need to be complicated. I just chose three descriptive sentences and used those for my list.

I am trying to get my niece's wedding album done. It's getting close:) (That's the reason there are no photos.) I kept the layout clean and simple so that the photos would be the highlight.

Looking forward to seeing your lists:)

Lasting Memories Challenge: Show Us Your Vacation Photos

It's the end of Summer Vacation and we want to see your Vacation Photos this week at Lasting Memories.
My vacation photos are actually 22 years old. There are from when Scott was a year old.  Deer Acres was located in Pinconning, Michigan. I loved going there as a kid. My mother's side of the family would gather there once a summer, There were Mother Goose exhibits and a petting zoo. We always had a picnic lunch which consisted of KFC Chickens, my Aunt Barb's Tuna and Macaroni Salad and my Mother's Texas Sheet Cake. And we got to drink Coke out of a bottle. (Those were the days of the green Coke bottles, nothing was disposable.)

Taking Scott with my family was a highlight of our Michigan vacation to see my family. Scott loved it there and would have ridden the Merry Go Round nonstop if it had been allowed. He was furious with me though because I wouldn't fix the cracks in Humpty Dumpty. I was Super Mom and I could fix anything in his eyes.To bad that Super Mom didn't exist through his teen years.....sigh

Lasting Memories Challenge -Anything Goes

Oh do we have a fun challenge for you this week at Lasting Memories! It's Anything Goes!

I had a ton of fun with this one!

When Percy was alive it was nonstop movement and noise. And on those rare minutes when he was sleeping we did everything in our power to make sure he was not disturbed so we didn't have to watch him nonstop! LOL

Tip 1: The bottom photo was overwhelmed by the light in the window. I used a Simon Says Word Bubble Die and cut the die down. And the zzz.... were a great to use up letters that often don't get used on a sticker sheet.

Tip 2: I made the chipboard using Sizzix Rectangle Frame die. I then covered it Tim Holtz's Distress Crackle paint and let it dry. Then I inked it with Walnut Distress Ink. After it dried I misted it with Tsukneko Frost Sheer Shimmer.

Tip 3: The Dress it Up Dog House embellishment was originally blue. I used Airondooks Earhworks Alcohol ink to change it's color. Very easy!

Tip 4:I had no brown flowers. So I took an old Prima flower that I hated  the color and  misted it with Bronze Tattered Angels Mist and the Sprayed it Tsukneko Frost Sheer Shimmer.

Tip 5: To make the banners I covered a piece of scrap cardstock with the washi tape I used under the top photo.. I then die cut the banners.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Tim Holtz, Studio Calico
Chipboard: Grafix
Embellishments: Dress It Up Embellishments: Dog
Washi Tape: stash
Flower: Prima
Brad: American Crafts
Silhouette: Bone downlad
Adhesive: Zots, Glue Glider Pro
Die: Spellbinders Nesting Pendants, Simon Says Talk Bubbles

Challenges

Fan-Tastic Tuesday Anything Goes
Dream Factory: Dr. Dolittle What comes to mind when thinking of Animals and get Well. In this case they need lots of rest!

Looking forward to seeing your creations!

Lasting Memories 200th Challenge Blog Hop

Hello and thanks for stopping by! We're hopping with celebration and excitement this week :) Yep, we're having a blog hop in celebration of our 200th post Lasting Memories! Our challenge? BUTTONS! We are looking for buttons, buttons everywhere on those layouts this week! Along the way, you'll see that some of us are offering a little candy on our blogs but you have to visit us to see who! We've also gotten a little creative with our buttons so we hope you'll be inspired! You should have arrived here from Michele's blog and if this is your first stop, please be sure to hop back to Lasting Memories to start the hop so you don't miss a thing!

Each of us has a letter for you to collect that will spell out a scrapbook themed word, so don't forget to jot down my letter which you'll see below. Once you've completed the hop, leave your answer in the comment section back at Lasting Memories. Comments will be moderated so there's no peeking! Then you have to enter your LO and guess what?! Our grand prize winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from A2Z Scrapbooking Store!!

Awesome right?? Oh!! And one MORE thing! I'm also offering up some candy: Leave a comment to win this.

Now time to reveal my complete layout! There's no photo because it is a gift. The pink/purple is a shiny metallic paper so it didn't photograph well. The "adorable" is done in crystals which didn't photograph well either. I'm sorry:(  This is MUCH prettier in person.

(photo/description)
Tip for making the heart: I freehand drew the heart frame out of heavy pink cardstock.  I then glued the edge of the lace on the back of the heart, so that the lace would be exposed behind the buttons. I randomly glued buttons, brads, and sequins around the frame filling in all of the exposed areas. I used various sizes of glues dots from mini to pop dots depending on the size of the embellishment.

Your next stop is Darcy's blog!! And don't forget to jot down my letter which is O.

Have fun and happy hopping!
